The NC Museum of Arts East Building is a 156,870 GSF, four (4) level museum, with an Assembly Occupancy (A3), located at 2110 Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh. This fire protection project has four primary components: The existing fire protection system for the facility employs the use of multiple Halon sub-systems that are monitored by the main fire alarm panel. The Halon systems and associated equipment are obsolete and must be part of a phased removal process. Full sprinkler system design will be provided by a fire protection engineer that is part of the designers team prior to issuing the project for bid. Delegated design of the sprinkler system to a fire sprinkler contractor will not be allowed for this specific project. The existing fire alarm system is obsolete and malfunctioning and will be replaced with a full voice evacuation system in accordance with the current NC Building Code. The project will require a phased construction design to keep the building fully functional and to install the new equipment in a manner that is consistent with the look and performance of the facility. No additional specifications were given.
