Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC), through this RFR, seeks to procure a Brain Injury (BI) Community Center for people with acquired or traumatic brain injury living in the Worcester area. This Center will be the first of its kind in the state; therefore ongoing modification of the model is expected over the first few years.The Brain Injury Community Center is a rehabilitation service that provides supports through a membership-based program. Consistent with MRCs Vision and Mission statement, emphasis is on abilities rather than disabilities. The Center is a community of people who are working together toward a common goal. All Center members work together to run the Center, thereby developing skills and self-esteem. At the same time, personal goals are developed which are supported by social relationships and training.The RFR Service Specifications ensure the following:membership in the Brain Injury Community Center is voluntary and each member has equal access to all components of the program.the daily activities of the Brain Injury Community Center operations are organized around a structure with members and staff working together in all areas of its operation;each member has an Action Plan that is strength based, person-centered and identifies goals meaningful to the person;interventions are documented to assist the member to track progress towards their goals;all staff have generalists roles in that they are able to perform all duties and responsibilities of the Community Center;staff receive on-going supervision and training on the principles and values of this innovative model of service for persons who have a brain injury.The Brain Injury Community Center is a membership-driven program providing skill development necessary for social networking, independent living, budgeting, accessing transportation, self-care, maintaining educational goals, and securing and retaining volunteering or paid employment.
