Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Contractor shall provide the following types of equipment, all with operators, blades, andtire chains. The minimum blade length is 13 feet and the maximum blade length is 15 feet. A 14foot blade is recommended:A minimum of two (2) motor graders, which shall be have a minimum of 120 HP.Tire chains should be installed on motor graders at the job site and removed prior todeadheading equipment to any staging area.All motor graders provided under this agreement should be hydraulic powered, reversible,hydraulic angling, moldboard type plows, with a dual trip spring assembly, which willautomatically return the moldboard to the normal plowing position. The trip spring assembly isintended to reduce the potential for damage to the plowing equipment resulting from collisionwith roadway structures, such as, but not limited to, manholes and valve boxes. The Departmentwill not be responsible for damage to the Contractors equipment resulting from collisions withsuch structures. Also, the moldboard operating heights will be determined by the NCDOT. Insome cases, the Contractor may be directed to have the moldboard in direct contact with thepavement surface.
