The features are located in upper basins eastand west of Telluride, in San Miguel County, Colorado. Please see the attached maps.WORK SUMMARYThe Morning Star Mine Closure Project includes 15 hazardous mine openings (13 adits and 2shafts) located on federal lands managed by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS). The features arelocated in upper basins east and west of Telluride, in San Miguel County, Colorado. These areabandoned hard rock gold and silver mines that operated in the late 1800s and early 1900s. TheUSFS is coordinating with the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety (DRMS) toensure that impacted mine features will be properly safeguarded.The project work will include a variety of methods to safeguard these features including gratedshaft closures, backfill, native rock bulkhead and corrugated HDPE pipe closures. A majority of thesite locations will require helicopter access and/or pack animals and hiking
