Specifications include, but are not limited to:Project OverviewMnDOT requests responses to develop and implement a community-level Traffic Safety Culture Pilot Project.Nearly all Minnesota fatal and serious injury crashes tie back to choices made by roadway users. Previous research focused onthe choices road users make, but rarely ask what environment leads the roadway user to make that choice. Traffic SafetyCulture is a relatively new focus area for Minnesota Traffic Safety; Traffic Safety Culture stands at the center of the focus areasfound in in the Minnesota Strategic Highway Safety Plan. Traffic Safety Culture includes the shared values, beliefs, frames,norms and attitudes toward roadway usage.Recommendations found in the MnDOT sponsored 'Measurement of Traffic Safety Culture in Minnesota' and An assessmentof traffic safety culture: exploring traffic safety citizenship, include development and implementation of a project or campaignthat increases public demand for traffic safety. Such a project should be implemented across the social ecology family andfriends, workplace and schools, in the community, and beyond.MnDOT seeks proposals for projects that will implement recommendations traffic safety culture strategies through acommunity-level pilot project. Such a project should promote positive traffic safety values targeted to individuals, families,- 1 -(CSS/CM Last Updated 12/24/2015)workplace and schools; throughout community life and among community leaders. Components of this project may includeeducational activities or campaigns that fit within the recommendations of Measuring Minnesotas Traffic Safety Culture. The pilot project will be implemented in one Minnesota community to be determined. The pilot project will run for three years beginning in July 2016 and concluding in June 2019. The pilot project will build on existing regional and local Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) Partnerships and operate inconcert with local and regional Toward Zero Deaths partners.
