Specifications include, but are not limited to:Background Information: Paroled offenders are conditionally released from incarceration by the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) prior to the end of their sentences to live in the community, subject to supervision by the CDOC Division of Adult Parole, in accordance with the conditions of their respective parole agreements. The parole agreement establishes any special conditions of the offenders parole, as well as the date of discharge from the parole term. In instances in which a paroled offender is arrested for an alleged violation to the terms of his/her parole agreement, a Parole Evidentiary Hearing is conducted to determine whether the o f f e n d e r s parole shall be revoked or continued. Paroled offenders who meet certain established criteria and cannot effectively represent themselves, may be appointed paid legal representation by the Parole Board for said Parole Evidentiary Hearing. This legal representation is the service being solicited herein. As a result, the CDOC issues this solicitation in order to select one or more qualified individuals to provide the needed legal representation services throughout the State of Colorado, in accordance with the philosophy of the Colorado Bar Association. All services solicited herein are expected to be provided within the State of Colorado. REQUIREMENTS/STATEMENT OF WORK : 1) The successful bidder (Contractor) must hold a valid law degree and must maintain a license to practice law in the State of Colorado. Experience in criminal law (e.g., public defender, district attorney, private attorney, etc.) is desirable and will generally be evaluated favorably. 2) The State, through this solicitation, anticipates the Contractor to provide representation to the parolee primarily through phone calls to and from the parole officer, reviewing complaints, and Mittimus in reference, drafting correspondence on parolees behalf
