Specifications include, but are not limited to:Perform diagnostic testing to ensure placement and the proper number of suction points to adequately depressurize and move radon gas throughout the radon system. 2. Install an active depressurization radon system inside the home, utilizing existing pathways such as closets to route the system from basement through the home to the roof. On rare occasions, the radon system may be installed on the exterior with the City and p r o p e r t y o w n e r s a p p r o v a l . 3. Meet with the City and the property owner on the site to complete radon mitigation plans at least two weeks prior to project start. Schedule the radon mitigation approximately 2-4 w e e k s f r o m c o n t a c t b y t h e C i t y o f M i n n e a p o l i s , a n d a t t h e h o m e o w n e r s c o n v e n i e n c e . 4. Obtain a mechanical permit from the City of Minneapolis to complete this radon work. 5. Hire a licensed electrician that is accredited to perform the necessary outlet work associated with the radon project in Minneapolis. The electrician needs to be licensed and permits are required for all new outlet installations associated with the radon project. Pay this electrician directly as a subcontractor, and bill the City in one invoice for both the radon mitigation and electrical services. 6. Ensure the radon mitigation system is operating correctly via visual manometer and short term radon testing using Air Check kits. The city of Minneapolis will perform 3 rd party testing for radon levels after the radon mitigation system has been operating for a minimum of 24 hours. Short term radon kits from Air Check should show levels of less than 2.0 picocuries per liter of air before payment is approved. The City of Minneapolis will provide these results to the property owner and the contractor.
