Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Bexar County Hospital District dba University Health System (UHS) wishes to entertain proposals for a collaborative program to provide inpatient hospice services within University Hospital. University Health System has a strong Palliative Care service and has identified a need amongst our patients for inpatient hospice services. The scope of services would include funded and unfunded patients. A. Specifications The current volume of patients will support multiple vendors for inpatient hospice services. However, UHS retains the right to utilize our current contracts for outpatient hospice. Successful vendors must adhere to all CMS and State of Texas requirements for hospice providers. Referrals for inpatient hospice care shall be evaluated by the UHS Palliative Care service prior to referral for inpatient hospice. A referral system will be developed by the Palliative Care team as part of the program. Hospice services for the health system patients will meet the following requirements to be deemed eligible for referral: 1.Certification that the individual is terminally ill, which will be included in the UHS Palliative Care consultation. Simultaneously, the individual hospice providers medical director will have likewise concurred that the patient is terminally ill
