Specifications include, but are not limited to:. This project includes the construction a new 92,000 gross square foot museum and planetarium on the University of Minnesotas St Paul Campus (corner of Larpenter and Cleveland Avenues). The project will house new permanent exhibit gallery, special exhibit galleries, planetarium, classrooms, lobby/ event space and more.The project itself is broken into two Bid Packages to maximize construction schedule opportunities. The project is requesting Special Inspection and Testing services for the scope related to the entire project (both bid packages). Bid Package 001 (BP-01) is issued for construction services related to site excavacation/ prep and footings/ foundations along with material procurement of structural steel/ concrete. Bid Package 002 (BP-02) will contract for all remaining construction trade services. Based on the scope and level of drawings provided in BP-01 we are requesting for a fee to conduct all Special Inspection and Testing Services.The project will be delivered through a Construction Manager at Risk (CMaR) method. The selected CMaR is McGough Construction. The construction start date is May 2, 2016 with an anticipated substantial completion date of September 2017. The estimated construction cost is $37,000,000. Independent Testing Agency proposals should be based on the following documentation:Construction Documents Bid Package 001 (BP-01) prepared by Perkins+Will dated 03/18/16.Special Structural Testing and Inspection Program Summary Agreement (signed 03/29/16)Scope of Services:The University is requesting proposals from qualified firms to serve as the Independent Testing Agency (ITA) for the Bell Museum project and to provide special inspections and quality control testing services in accordance with the Construction Documents (BP-01), the 2007 Minnesota Building Code, the 2006 International Building Code and the University of Minnesota Special Inspections Form, including:Special Inspection ServicesEarthwork observations and testing, as applicable;Concrete reinforcement placement;Structural masonry placement;Precast concrete placement;Structural steel welded and bolted connections (field only);Expansion anchors, anchor rods, embeds and adhesive anchors installation;Metal decking installation;Fireproofing special inspection, as applicable;Intumescent paint special inspection, as applicable;Quality Control/Assurance TestingConcrete testing (field and laboratory);Compaction testing (field and laboratory);Gradation testing (laboratory);Grout testing (field and laboratory);Fireproofing testing, as applicable (field);Intumescent paint testing, as applicable (field);Window Testing (field testing)Other ServicesProject management and administration associated with above tasks including project oversight, project consulting, attending project meetings and corresponding with the construction team.Window testing is to include a minimum 4 window air and water infiltration tests
