Specifications include, but are not limited to: In using this method for solicitation, we are requesting your best effort in seeking the best value for our requirements. To be eligible for consideration, sealed proposals shall be presented in accordance with the instructions of this solicitation and within the timeframe specified. It shall be the responsibility of the selected Offeror to meet all specifications and guidelines set forth herein. Atlanta Public Schools, at its discretion, determines the criteria and process whereby proposals are evaluated and awarded. No damages shall be recoverable by any challenger as a result of these determinations or decisions by Atlanta Public Schools. 2.0 CURRENT SITUATION 2.1 Currently, there is one (1) playground at Toomer Elementary School. The current playground does not allow all students with significant physical disabilities to maximize social interaction. 2.2 The goal is to design and construct a playground that includes the five (5) elements of inclusive play: physical, social, sensory, communication and cognitive. 3.0 SCOPE OF WORK 3.1 The playground design and installation contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, supervision, equipment, insurance, taxes, overhead and all other services necessary for the inclusive playground project at Toomer Elementary School, 65 Rogers Street, NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30317. 3.2 The design principles shall challenge a child with every component to stimulate critical aspects of a c h i l d s d e v e l o p m e n t a l g r o w t h . 3.3 The playground design shall incorporate inclusive play for children with the most common disabilities, such as, Autism Spectrum Disorder; Sensory Processing Disorder; Intellectual Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy and Childhood Obesity. 3.4 This shall be accomplished by appropriate sizing of the main structure (multigenerational appropriate equipment) and the linking of multidisciplinary events at ground level which challenges all of the s t u d e n t s c o g n i t i v e a n d p h y s i c a l a b i l i t i e s . A v a r i e t y o f c l i m b i n g , b a l a n c e a n d o v e r h e a d a c t i v i t i e s l i n k e d together (ramps and stations as required) shall be incorporated to encourage students to play while they are working out. Moreover, the design shall provide all children, of all abilities, to play and workout with developmentally appropriate physical challenges
