Specifications include, but are not limited to:Hampton Plantation State Historic Site is located in northern Charleston County, SC just south of the Santee River. The park is located on Rutledge Rd, a paved, county maintained road off of US Highway 17. The total project involves the removal of one Hundred and five (105) trees of various size located within two (2) work zones in the park. The two work zones are designated as the Entrance and Exit Road Corridor and the Front Field of the Mansion Zone. These trees and their locations are variously described within the following specificationsThe Front Field of the Mansion Zone is located in the northeastern portion of the park. The zones dominate features are the historic mansion, plantation kitchen buildings, as well as many large historic live oak trees. Work in the zone includes the removal, disposal and grinding of the stumps to ground level of eleven (11) live oak trees within the front field of the mansion.The Entrance and Exit Road Corridor contains ninety-four (94) dead, hazardous trees which require removal and chipping, Trees to be removed are marked with blue tree paint. All chips from this area are to be spread evenly in the forest (no piles).Due to the sensitive archaeological and historical significance of Hampton Plantation, equipment access to certain areas will be restricted to periods when the ground is dry enough to prevent undue damage to the soil surface. The contractor must coordinate access at the site with the Historic Site Manager, who will determine when the site is dry enough for access by the successful contractor and his/her specific equipment. Additionally, while cutting, removing and transporting trees for chipping, the debris needs to be cut in small enough sections that it can be removed by lifting and carrying without dragging or causing any other ground disturbance.The Contractor shall:Follow the vegetation management practices indicated below to ensure that vegetation management activities, except as prescribed below, do not increase the risk of harm to the park property through increased fire risk, potential for windfall trees, or other similar risks. No depositing, burning or burying any removed material shall be permitted except as prescribed below in this document.Furnish all necessary management, supervision, inspection, personnel, materials, supplies, tools, equipment, transportation and vehicles required to complete all work prescribed in this document at Hampton Plantation State Historic Site according to the terms of this contract by January 20, 2016.Notify the park one week prior to arriving on site to begin vegetation management activities. In case of weather or site conditions requiring delay, coordinate with the Park Manager to determine an appropriate date to begin contract activities.Perform work during the designated work hours of 9:00am through 5:00pm.
