Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to: demolition of the existing fire alarm system, the installation of a new fire alarm system, and the installation of a new cellular connection. The scope of work includes all elements required to satisfy Federal, State and local requirements as well as the ownersrequirementsoutline d o n t h e c o n t r a c t d o c u m e n t s . The scope of work includes all demo, cutting and patching that might be required to achieve a full installation of the system. The contractor shall be solely responsible for satisfying the requirements of the Concord Fire Department. The sequence of installation is of importance to maintain an operational fire alarm system throughout the corridors. The existing system will be left operational and untouched until the new system is installed, tested and accepted. Once the new system is completed, the existing system will be demolished. The fire alarm system will use a cellular transceiver to communicate to an off-site supervising station. It will be capable of transmitting alarm, supervisory, and trouble signals. The fire alarm system will also connect to the existing Master Box. The fire alarm system will annunciate at the fire alarm control unit (FACU), which will be located in the main entrance. Unless otherwise required by the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ), an annunciator will not be installed. The fire alarm system will include initiation by manual pull stations, sprinkler monitoring, and automatic detection in the form of smoke and heat detectors. Once an alarm is initiated, the system will go into general alarm, releasing the magnetic door holders and notifying occupants of an emergency.
