Specifications include, but are not limited to:Background and Purpose 2.1.1 The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is an independent agency responsible for managing, operating and improving the State's toll facilities located in Baltimore City, MD. 2.1.2 Congregating geese can cause a number of problems for businesses. Damage to landscaping can be significant and expensive to repair or replace, while large amounts of excrement can make public areas a potential hazard. Additionally, geese are aggressive during breeding and nesting season when they nip and attack, which makes their behavior a problem around businesses and employees. Therefore, preventative measures, including behavior and nesting modifications, need to be employed to control nuisance goose problems. 2.1.3 The MDTA is contracting for a qualified, professional Contractor to provide geese population control and management services including but not limited to behavior modification, in accordance with the contract terms, specifications and general conditions. 2.2 Scope of Work - Requirements 2.2.1The Contractor must provide trained handlers to perform the required services. The handlers must be trained aboutCana d i a n g e e s e a n d p r e p a r e d t o a n s w e r q u e s t i o n s o f t h e p u b l i c a b o u t h a r a s s i n g o f C a n a d i a n g e e s e a n d the risk of feeding Canadian geese. 2.2.2 The Contractor shall bring dogs to the MDTA facility to stalk the geese in order to move them off the MDTA campus. This type of bird control, referred to as hazing or harassment, does not harm geese but it does unsettle them forcing them elsewhere. Repetitive canine patrols instill a predator fear in geese and convince them to find safer places to forage. 2.2.3 The Contractor shall provide services to the MDTA facility twice a day, seven (7) days a week, excluding State Holidays for the months of October through March. Services shall be performed between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., for the first visit and between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., for the second visit. 2.2.4 The MDTA shall reserve the right to request additional site visits at any time, to include but not be limited to the months of April and September and the Contractor shall be onsite to respond to the additional site visit within two (2) hours of the call
