Specifications include, but are not limited to:III. Resilient-Seated Gate Valves 4", 6", 8", 10" and 12" sizes shall be furnished as resilient seated gate valves. At least one "O" ring shall be provided above and below the thrust collar of the stem, and the space between the "O" rings and around the thrust collar shall be lubricated with permanent type lubrication, otherwise the valve shall be bronze bushed above and below the thrust collar. Any manufacturer who offers thrust washers above and/or below the thrust collar as a standard or optional product in their literature for resilient-seated gate valves will be required to furnish thrust washers as offered. A suitable type weather and dirt seal shall be provided above the bonnet cover. Otherwise two "O" rings shall be provided above the thrust collar. Gate shall be one piece fully encapsulated or with pre-approved rubber seat ring. Sufficient holes shall be provided at the bottom and top of the gate so that dirt cannot accumulate inside the gate and that water can easily flush in and out of the gate when operated. All interior ferrous parts of the valve, including the interior of the gate shall be epoxy coated in accordance with the latest edition of American Water Works Association Specification C-550. All exterior ferrous parts of the valve shall be either epoxy coated as indicated above or coated with asphalt varnish. Bolts that screw directly into valve body without the use of nuts shall be stainless steel bolts. IV. Butterfly ValvesButterfly Valves shall be mechanical joint, complete and fully assembled. Butterfly Valves shall be iron body, open counter clockwise with a two (2) inch square operating nut, rubber seated, self adjusting disc seal conforming to the latest edition of AWWA C504 specifications (Mueller Lineseal III Butterfly Class 150B, Catalog #B-3211-20, Clow F-5370 or equal.) The dimensions and coatings shall comply with AWWA CIII, Ansi A21-11 and AWWA C550. The working and test pressures shall be 150 and 300 p.s.i. respectively with a maximum operating temperature of 150 degrees F. In addition to these requirements, the valve assembly shall be capable of withstanding an input torque at the square nut of 450 foot-pounds input torque at open and closed positions.
