Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to: The work generally includes stripping coatings (which may contain lead) from portions of thewindow sash, jambs/frames, trim, and or sills to complete the work. Epoxy repairs andconsolidation are required in some areas. Appropriate Abatron epoxy (WoodEpox) andconsolidation (LiquidWood) products will be used on this project, and are the basis of the bid.Any substitute epoxy or consolidation products must be approved by the Project Representative.All windows require some degree of reglazing as noted in the assessment (partial or complete)and historic glass that is not cracked must be salvaged and retained and must remain in itsoriginal location. Exercise utmost care during removal of existing glazing. For glazing uselinseed oil based putty and appropriately sized points. The scope of work includes priming andpainting the exterior of all windows indicated for repair. Interiors of windows will be paintedonly when the work affects the interior finish. The window sash are typically pegged at thecorners; these pegs must be retained or duplicated as necessary to complete the repairs.Duplicate existing profiles as required for repaired or replaced components. Five separateprofiles are identified in the assessment. If repairs are made to sash corners, duplicate existingjoinery.
