Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to:PIZZA BRAND: Must be a nationally recognized brand of pizza. MARKETING MATERIALS: Must be provided for cafeterias. PIZZA CRUST: Must be made with 51% whole grain, to be pan style of medium thickness, and to be 14 in diameter finished size before baking. Each pizza must contain a minimum of 16 ounces whole grain dough and 16 grams whole grains per pizza. Pizza to be cut into 8 even slices. Each slice must provide 2 grain servings according to the USDA National School Lunch Program. PIZZA SAUCE: Must be made from domestic tomato products and flavor profiled for high school students. Each slice of pizza must contain enough sauce to supply 1/8 cup red/orange vegetables according to the USDA National School Lunch Program. PIZZA TOPPINGS: Cheese must be 100% real cheese of any variety suitable for pizza. Four types of pizzas will be sold to Belton Independent School District. Cheese, Cheese and Pepperoni, Cheese and Sausage, and Cheese and Ham. Each slice of pizza must contain enough cheese or cheese and meat to supply 2 meat/meat alternatives according to the USDA National School Lunch Program. FAT CONTENT: Each slice of pizza must contain 12 grams or less fat per serving and no trans fat. SODIUM CONTENT: Each slice of pizza must contain 640 milligrams or less sodium per serving.
