Specifications include, but are not limited to: Lakewood Forest Preserve is a 2800-acre preserve in Wauconda, Illinois. The Lake County Forest Preserve District (Owner) wishes to remove invasive woody brush in a 32.1-acre section within the preserve known as the McLean Woods and Wetland Nature Preserve. The target treatment area is a restored former agricultural field with scattered stands of invasive shrubs and small trees. The ground is gently rolling and dominated by Eurasian grass species. Scattered throughout the field are small native trees and shrubs planted in 2009. These native trees are contained within fencing to protect the young trees from animal damage. The Owner seeks a Contractor to perform: a) 100% removal via mechanical and hand cutting methods of invasive woody species less than 6 inch dbh (diameter breast height) and greater than 2 feet tall in height. b) Follow up foliar application of any re-sprouts of cut stumps in summer 2017. c) Protection of planted native trees and tree protection fencing. d) Conservation and protection of soils from compaction and rutting.
