Specifications include, but are not limited to:Task 1 Assist with the coordination of the Food Rescue ForumTask 2 Develop and Support a Regional Food Rescue Working Group (RFRWG)Engage partner organizations and stakeholders from a broad range of sectors including local officials,food service businesses, technology companies, food rescue and assistance groups, academia, wastemanagement, community representative, public health, environmental groups, foundations and others.The purpose of the RFRWG is to create a focused vision, fundraising, sharing of resources and skillsacross sectors and engagement of community allies to more effectively implement sustainablesolutions.The RFRWG may use the Food Shift report, Food Rescue Services, Barriers and Recommendationsin Santa Clara County, as a starting point to discuss and prioritize the recommendations. Eachsolution should be driven by the groups whom the solution will directly impact, including foodassistance organizations, food service businesses, and food-insecure individuals.Task 3 Develop a strategic plan including a timeline, budget, and implementation outlineevaluating and prioritizing the recommendations of the Food Shift Report and the resultingoutcome of the Food Rescue Forum. The recommendations from the Food Shift report are asfollows (in no particular order):1. Increase the capacity of food assistance groups to adequately rescue and redistributefood within Santa Clara County before encouraging more donations.a. Establish a grant program to increase the capacity and infrastructure of food rescueand redistribution efforts.b. Identify underutilized community assets like vehicles, kitchens, and storage.c. Explore and support technology for food rescue.d. Create an inter-agency food sharing network.e. Provide food safety trainings for food assistance organizations.
