Specifications include, but are not limited to:FACTs Board of Trustees is soliciting proposals from eligible organizations to fund programs that develop or enhance community efforts to prevent, treat or increase public awareness of family violence. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, faith-based organizations, and public organizations located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Organizations that previously received FACT funding are eligible to apply, as are others that are new to FACT.As more research emerges about the negative impact of trauma on families, human service professionals across Virginia are enhancing efforts for practitioners, agencies, and communities to become both trauma informed and trauma responsive. Trauma Informed Care is an organizational structure and treatment framework that involves understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma. Trauma Informed Care also emphasizes physical, psychological and emotional safety for both consumers and providers, and helps survivors rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.All awards must focus on the topics of family violence and Trauma Informed Care. Family violence includes child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. FACT will make $300,000 available in grant awards for two categories:Direct Service GrantsSystems/Community Change GrantsFACT will make multiple awards up to $30,000 to each eligible organization for the provision of direct services. This might include, but is not limited to, the following services or programs:Direct services to victims of family violence and their families;Educational and/or support services to prevent or treat family violence including the development of family supports that strengthen and engage families;Training to improve services or to enhance the development of collaborative community teams; andActivities in local communities to increase awareness of family violence issues and services.Applicants are encouraged, but not required, to collaborate with other community organizations to implement the proposed project.FACT will also make up to two (2) $50,000 awards to eligible organizations to support systems and/or community change. These awards cannot be used for the provision of direct services and must demonstrate public/private collaboration.
