Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Eastern Upper Peninsula Transportation Authority (hereafter referred to as EUPTA) operates vehicle and passenger ferry service to Drummond, Neebish and Sugar Islands in the St. Mary's River of Michigan's eastern Upper Peninsula. The agency owns four vessels and eight docking facilities. Approximately 500,000 vehicles and 800,000 passengers are transported to and from the three islands annually. EUPTA seeks proposals from qualified firms to evaluate alternatives to the current fare collection system, and develop a report on the findings including recommendations for system upgrades. The findings must include detailed descriptions of the system upgrades in the recommendations. The fare system in use relies heavily on cash fares, although the proportion and volume of cash fares varies by island.
