Specifications include, but are not limited to:The City of Norfolk is seeking a responsive and responsible vendor to establish a firm, fixed price contract for 5 years to furnish all labor, materials and equipment to install and remove emergency equipment on City owned emergency vehicles. The installation/removal can take place on or off site of Fleet Maintenance. The types of emergency vehicles involved shall include the following: Marked and Unmarked police vehicles (sedans, sport utility and vans), that are used in a host of policing activities.SPECIFICATIONS:Annual average builds consists of 20 marked Police units, five unmarked Police units, and additional vehicles that require outfitting.The successful bidder shall perform all work off site of Fleet Maintenance. Vendor must have a stocking inventory of Whelen products to expedite replacement part events, and offer a 2 year warranty on the installation of equipment installed by vendor and also handle all Whelen part warranty issues.The successful bidder shall start the installation within three days of taking possession of vehicle(s), with the understanding that the vehicle(s) shall be completed within that three (3) of receipt. Taking possession of the vehicle shall include pickup and delivery of vehicle. City vehicles must be secured indoors or in a fenced compound from the time of taking possession of the vehicle until return to Fleet Maintenance.Wiring shall be installed as per instructions of the Citys Radio Lab. The Radio Lab will have a technician present for the first build to ensure the vendor is installing equipment as per their instructions.The successful bidder shall provide on-site and training of Fleets personnel on the procedures and locations of emergency equipment installed on Police marked and unmarked vehicles, and provide wiring schematics for all additional wiring added to the vehicles.The successful bidder will provide all miscellaneous materials i.e. wire connectors, wire ties, screws or hardware (nuts, bolts), wire looms, etc. that will be needed for any installation of equipment.
