Specifications include, but are not limited to:he water utility, generally referred to as the Trenton Water Works (TWW), consists of a number of operating units within the organization of the City of Trenton. The operating units are the units in the Division of Water and Sewer, a division within the Department of Public Works. The water utility operating units are Treatment and Pumping, Water Quality, Engineering, Metering, Administration, Construction and Maintenance, and Billing and Collections. Other units within the City Organization providing services to the operating units and to the water utility as an entity include: the Department of Finance providing services through its office of Accounts and Controls, the Department of Administration for personnel, information systems and purchasing, the Law Department, and the City ClerksOffice. A s a g o v e r n m e n t a l e n t i t y w i t h i n t h e C i t y o f T r e n t o n , t h e w a t e r u t i l i t y c o m e s u n d e r t h e oversight of the Mayor and the City Council. The water utility provides retail water service to about 63,000-metered customers and to a population of about 215,000. About 23,000-metered customers are in the City of Trenton. The remainder is in Townships of Ewing, Hamilton, Hopewell and Lawrence. The water utility provides service to its customers by managing and operating substantial and significant assets. These assets include: A 60 million gallon per day treatment plant (Trenton Water Filtration Plant) A 45 million gallon per day pumping station (Central Pumping Station) A facility to dewater and collect treatment residuals (Mechanical Dewatering Facility) A 100 million gallon finished water reservoir (Usable capacity about 85 million gallons) Four one million gallon elevated storage tanks (Mercerville, White Horse, Lawrence and Ewing Tanks) A 1.3 million gallon standpipe (Jones Farm Tank) A 0.6 million gallon hydropillar (Hopewell Tank) A 3.2 million gallon per day booster pumping station (Booster 3 Pumping Station) A 2.0 million gallon per day booster pumping station (Klockner Booster Station) About 650 miles of water main ranging in size from 4-inches to 48-inches About 8,700 valves ranging in size from 4-inch to 48-inches About 3,400 fire hydrants Two 5 million gallon per day interconnections with New Jersey American Water
