Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Contractor must provide emergency veterinary services on an as needed basis. Services will include carefor a variety of injuries and illnesses on a variety of animals including domestic pets, livestock and small exoticanimals.A. The Contractor must possess a degree in veterinary medicine and must be licensed and authorized topractice veterinary medicine in the State of Maryland, equipment and supplies necessary to provide emergencyveterinary services.B. The Contractor must provide prompt triage and stabilize ASD animals during, but not limited to,after hours, weekends and holidays. Treatment or medical support for ASD animals requires prior approvalfrom a designated ASD representative.C. The Contractor must maintain accurate and thorough records for each patient treated, in accordancewith the requirements set forth by the Maryland State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.D. The Contractor must have suitable on-site kenneling for ASD animals requiring hospitalization.E. The Contractor must perform humane euthanasia on domestic animals and wildlife under conditionsagreed upon by ASD.F. The Contractor must perform emergency surgeries after receiving prior approval by designated ASDrepresentative.G. Upon request, the Contractor must provide ASD personnel with up-to-date medical records for eachpatient treated.H. The Contractor must examine, hospitalize and provide treatment and supportive care for neonatalpatients until they can be transferred to ASD for care.I. The Contractor must have knowledge or experience with exotic small mammals and/or large animalssuch as horses, goats, and livestock.J. The Contractor must be available for emergency consultation with County Staff.K. The Contractor must be able to accept emergency and after hour drop off of domestic animals at its
