Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. The sale is a fourth row logger select thinning of 275 acres of 15 year old planted slash pine, 61 acres of 25 year old planted slash pine and 53 acres of 29 year old planted slash pine on Tiger Bay State Forest in Volusia County, Florida. Timber to be removed includes every fourth row for access and a select thinning of the leave rows to reach a target basal area remaining of 70-80 square feet per acre. Trees to be removed from the leave rows should include suppressed, diseased, damaged, forked and a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the target basal area. Leave trees should be healthy trees and protected from logging damage. Sale boundaries include roads, swamps, plowed lines or power lines. Approximately volumes to be removed include 13,013 tons of pulpwood and 2,023 tons of Chip-N-Saw and Better. Contract length will be for twelve (12) months.
