Specifications include, but are not limited to:Deluge fire protection system sprinkler nozzle andpiping upgrade/replacementThis service to include replacing/upgrading 114 oldand outdated sprinkler nozzles (existing sprinklerheads are #668WA Sprayco Fire) to newer moreefficient nozzles to meet the same performancestandard with respect to flow characteristics for the 6sprinkler risers surrounding transformers at theSalina Pumped Storage Project powerhouse.Vendor to replace old sprinkler heads with new moreefficient sprinkler heads, clean and appropriatelyprepare piping to ensure it is unclogged, inspect andreplace any older less efficient sprinkler piping withnewer galvanized schedule 40 piping (to resistcorrosion in harsh environments), vendor is notresponsible for additional piping coating to resistcorrosion by weather beyond ensuring any piping isappropriately galvanized. Vendor shall provide oldheads to GRDA for reuse or disposal. Piping to beinstalled like-in-kind to existing piping, in the samearrangement as existing system, including, but notlimited to, angles, joints, heights, etc. so the systemwill perform as originally designed. Disposal of pipingthat was removed as part of this work is theresponsibility of GRDA.Transformers can be de-energized during pipingreplacement to ensure safe work can be conducted.No work to be done on the deluge valve, heatdetectors or signal equipment, or to sprinkler pipesupports and hangers; GRDA personnel will upgradeexisting sprinkler supports with more capablesupports as deficiencies are found. Vendor will not beresponsible for acceptance testing as part of thiscontract, but may be required to ensure performanceas-designed, based on the findings of a fireinspection performed on the system.
