Specifications include, but are not limited to:BACKGROUND The Center for English as a Second Language at the University of Arizona is a diverse, multi- program center with a complex series of credit and non-credit courses and programs. Our database needs are complex in that systems must be flexible yet secure and able to handle all our o p e r a t i o n a l s y s t e m s a n d i n t e g r a t e w i t h t h e u n i v e r s i t y s d a t a b a s e a s w e l l . W e a r e currently using a customized database, created and developed in-house that has been in place for 4 years to manage the Centers Admissions and Financial processes. Additionally, the Center uses a commercial system, Jupiter Ed ( to manage most of the Academic d a t a processes. CESL's customized database was designed using MySQL. Presently, there are 3 part ia l modules in the system, financial, academic, and admissions. The three modules should optimally work together to seamlessly provide the end user quick and easy access to any or all data .These modules need to be fully integrated and able to quickly update to run an efficient operation and to better serve our students. Having recently undergone a period of rapid growth, the Center needs to review overall workflow efficiencies. Additionally, the database Financial and Admission modules contain some functionalities that require manual processes as opposed to automated processes. Consequently, the University would like to hire a consultant to review our current workflow procedures and provide guidance related to areas of improvement and solutions to the current database design (Admissions, Financial and Academic) as it relates to integration and f u r the r deve lopmen t . The consultant must review and document our current procedures and identify and correct areas of inaccurate data reporting and/or redundancy, and provide an improved workflow with a database schematic of the proposed changes and improvements
