Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Port of Seattle plays a key role in bringing international trade and facilitating travel to the PacificNorthwest, providing maritime and airport operations for the greater Seattle area. The ports of Seattleand Tacoma are currently working to create the historically innovative Northwest Seaport Alliance,unifying the management of the two ports marine cargo terminals and related functions to continue ourleading role in international trade.The Port operates Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac), ranked as the 13th busiest U.S.airport, serving nearly 37.5 million passengers and more than 319,000 metric tons of air cargo in 2014.For the fourth straight year, Sea-Tac served a record number of passengers in 2014, the fastest growthof any U.S. airport.The Port also operates a significant maritime operation including vibrant cruise ship terminals for variouscruise ship lines, as well as other maritime operations. There is also an Economic Developmentoperation with various real-estate holdings. The Overview of the Port of Seattle document posted alongwith this solicitation provides additional detail on the structure and scope of the Ports operations.In order to continue growing in line with the growth of the region, the Port of Seattle will be making capitalinvestments in facilities and infrastructure to enable substantially increased throughput on the limitedland space SeaTac currently occupies. Port of Seattle leadership has challenged the organization torespond to the unprecedented rate of growth with new levels of efficiency. Lean principles will help thePort meet the challenges of rapid growth. By engaging employees in reducing waste in our processes,we can:1. Streamline work and gain capacity to support growth. This will help us double the size ofeconomic impact without doubling Port employee base.2. Use these efficiency gains to free up resources, which can be reinvested.3. Demonstrate improved stewardship of public assets.
