Specifications

Specifications include, but are not limited to: The existing structure w as constructed in 1979 and consists of nine (9) spans ofcontinuous precast pre-stressed concrete I-girders, eight (8) pier w alls and seatabutments. The bridge is skew ed at approximately 45 degrees to Whitew aterStormw ater Channel. All abutments and pier w alls are supported on concrete piles.The spans of the bridge are 75, 92.5, 81, 81, 92.5, 81, 81, 92.5, and 75for Page 2 of 13a total length of 751.5 feet. The existing bridge w idth is 56 feet consisting of onefive foot w ide sidew alk and metal barrier on w est side, four travel lanes and metalbarrier on the east side.This project w ill w iden the bridge from 4 lanes to 6 lanes. The w idening of theexisting bridge w ill be about 20.25 feet on the w est side, and about 31.67 feet onthe east side, for a total bridge w idth of 108 feet. This w ill accommodate a total ofsix-12 feet lanes, 10 feet median and 2-6 feet sidew alks w ith Type 26 barriers.The Project w ill not involve landscaping. All of the w ork shall be performed w ithinthe existing right-of-w ay. The proposed improvements shall meet State standardsand requirements. Compliance w ith permits from the Corps of Engineers, CaliforniaDepartment of Fish and Game, the Regional Water Quality Control Board, andothers w ill be required to perform the w ork. All w ork and resulting facilities shallfully conform to the requirements set forth by the Federal Highw ays Administration(FHWA), the State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), therequirements set forth in The Greenbook 2015 Edition, Caltrans Standard Plansand Specifications, 2010 Edition and the Caltrans Local Assistance ProceduresManual. Coordination w ith the Coachella Valley Water District, Desert WaterAgency, Southern California Edison, Time Warner Cable, Verizon and others isrequired. All w ork and resulting facilities w ill fully conform to the current adoptedCoachella Valley State Implementation Plan (CVSIP) for PM-10 and including BestManagement Practices during the construction process.The project plans and specifications are available for review at the EngineeringDepartment counter at Cathedral City City Hall.
