Specifications include, but are not limited to:Universitys Need for Supplies / Services:The University of Illinois, on behalf of the Environmental Health and Safety Office, invites sealed bids proposals for theprovision of Chemical Waste and Hazardous Waste Disposal Servicesfor three (3) year period with the option to renewfor two (2) additional one (1) year periods at the same terms and conditions based on satisfactory performance,continuing need and availability of funds.The Contractor must provide services for the packaging, labeling, transportation and disposal of chemical waste andhazardous waste on an as needed basis.5.2 Supplies / Services Required:5.2.1 The Contractor must transfer chemical waste and hazardous waste from storage locations on theUniversity campus for the purpose of disposal/treatment/recycling. The locations usually includelarge, centralized waste storage facilities and occasionally laboratories and remote facilitiesowned and/or operated by the University. The Contractor must package, label, manifest,transport, and dispose/treat/recycle wastes at any given location in accordance with all applicablelocal, state, and federal regulations.5.2.2 The Contractor must provide high hazard assistance for materials that cannot be shipped due totheir instability or explosive hazard potential. Assistance includes handling and treating the highhazard materials to render them less hazardous so that they can be shipped for finaldisposal/treatment/recycling.5.2.3 The Contractor must accept all legal liability for the proper management of such waste afteraccepting transfer. No assignment of service duties, work responsibilities, or liability shall be madeto any other party or parties by the Contractor unless written approval is obtained from theUniversity.5.2.4 The Contractor must perform required services and transfer of waste so as to present a minimumof interference and risk to personnel, normal work activities, the public, and the property of theUniversity.5.2.5 Shipping containers must meet United States Department of Transportation requirements.
