Specifications include, but are not limited to:To work towards the year 2003s goal of doubling transit ridership by 2020, the County wishes to improve the quality of its bus stops and amenities for its bus passengers. To ensure that these improvements are delivered in a cost-effective manner, the County employed a Contractor to develop an inventory of existing bus stop facilities. The inventory allowed the County to evaluate the total existing needs of its facilities and prioritize investments at those facilities where improvements would serve the greatest good. In addition, the County Executive has established pedestrian safety improvements as a priority at transit facilities. This inventory has enabled the County to identify priority needs for pedestrian safety improvements. This comprehensive inventory and monitoring project which includes a computerized data base of all bus stops, bus stop shelters, transit centers and transit facilities has been used to begin the process of bus stop improvements.
