Specifications include, but are not limited to:PROJECT DESCRIPTION A.The purpose of this project is to install a new, permanent dam and spillway that will be used to replace the existing temporary dam just upstream of the historic Beaverdam Creek Dam. Additionally, the historic dam is to be repaired to specifications laid out in the plans. B.The goals and objectives of this project include the following: 1. Install a new dam and spillway in order to have the ability to effectively control Beaverdam Creek hydraulics; 2. Preserve the historic dam via the repairs laid out in the drawing set and specifications; 3. Dredge a specified area of the creek to a depth specified in the plan set. 2.SCOPE OF WORK 1.Overview: Spillway installation involves installing the sheet piles via access from the water and creek bed. Under this option, the entire area around the new dam will need to be dewatered. The dewatering process will involve installing a 48 Dewatering Device to divert the flow of Beaverdam Creek around the new dam during construction. This requires c u t t i n g a s e c t i o n o f b u l k h e a d w a l l o u t f o r t h e i n s t a l l a t i o n o f t h e 4 8 p i p e , a l o n g with the excavation of a trench to run the pipe to a specified outlet point downstream. Rip-rap stabilization will be required as an outlet structure at the downstream side of the dewatering device. 2. Phases 1. Staging a. Prepare the staging area for pile installation equipment. i. Erosion and sediment control measures installed. ii. Site preparation/grading, if needed, for construction and excavation equipment. 2. Installation of Dewatering Device. a. T r e n c h e x c a v a t i o n f o r t h e 4 8 p i p e . b. Rip-rap stabilization at the downstream side of the dewatering device. c. Installation of the dewatering pipe. 3. Repairs to Historic Dam
