Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City seeks to contract for the design, provision, and installation of a post-tensioned concrete playing surface. Concrete will be coated with acrylic surfacing to prolong life and promote use. Further information is located in this RFP. 2. Bidders must be prepared to comply with all state, federal, and local requirements for play equipment. 3. Winning bidder is responsible for cleanup of site and removal of debris at completion of project. 4. A minimum of (1) year warranty shall be extended to Ogden City at no cost. This warranty period begins at substantial completion and extends to (1) year from the date of substantial completion. Additional year warranties are looked upon favorably, but terms should be identified in written proposal. 5. Bidder must designate timeline and estimated time of completion. Completion date shall not exceed 90 days from notice to proceed to completion. SPECIFICATIONS: 1. Square footage: Minimum of 7,000 sq ft court structure. Dimensions are 70X100 2. Site work: Sod, excavation, site prep, tree removal, and sprinkler changes shall not be part of this bid process. Contractor shall include final grade / slab prep, road base and compaction to their proposal. 3. Quality Assurance: Work is to be performed by contractor with a minimum of (10) similar, successfully completed projects within the last 3 years. Contractor is to be a member of the American Sports Builders Association, and must be a certified a Sports Court Builder. 4. Tensioning Cables and Anchors: Post-tensioning strands and anchorages shall conform to the PTI Guide Specifications for Post-tensioning Materials.5 The tensioning strands shall consist of one-half (1/2) diameter, 7-wire, stress relieved strands, having guaranteed ultimate tensile strength of 270,psi (270 Kips). Strands shall conform to ASTM-416. Cables shall be fabricated to proper length for each slab, coated with a permanent rust preventative lubricant and encased in slippage sheathing. All breaks in sheathing shall be repaired with tape prior to concrete placement. A maximum of six inches (6) exposed strands is permitted at the dead-end anchor. A maximum horizontal deviation of +/- 6 at each cable is allowed, and a maximum vertical deviation of +/- is allowed. All cables shall be supported on chairs and loosely tied two inches (2) high at all intersections (too tightly tied, tendon friction will increase when tensioning) to prevent vertical and horizontal movement during concrete placement. O n e c o n t i n u o u s # 4 grade 60 bar lies longitudinally around the court beam directly inside the cable anchor on the top of the cables. Overlapping should be @ a minimum of 30 bar diameters. 5. Concrete Mix Design: The concrete shall have a compressive strength of not less than 4000 psi after twenty eight (28) days. Ready mixed concrete shall be mixed and delivered according to ASTM C-94 specifications for ready mix concrete with a five-inch (5) maximum slump. Testing to be assured by a third party testing agency, paid for by contractor. 6. Concrete placement: A full court shall be placed in one (1) continuous pour w i t h o u t i n t e r v e n i n g j o i n t s o f a n y k i n d . T h e 5 t h i c k s l a b w i l l b e p l a c e d e i t h e r w i t h a m e c h a n i c a l s c r e e d c a p a b l e o f s p a n n i n g t h e m i n i m u m d i s t a n c e o f 6 2 o r b y t h e use of a laser screed device capable of providing a surface tolerance to within +/- 1 / 4 w h e n m e a s u r e d u n d e r a 1 0 s t r a i g h t e d g e . T h e c o n t r a c t o r s h a l l s u p p l y adequate manpower to ensure that there is uniform distribution of concrete in front of screed, and shall not allow substantial concrete build up along leading edge of screed. Concrete shall be placed in accordance with Hot / Cold weather ACI Specifications. Concrete exceeding 90 minutes from batching shall be rejected.6 7. Concrete Finishing: Following dissipation of bleed water, finishing operations may begin. Concrete to be finished by any means to provide a planar surface, free from ridges and depressions. Concrete shall have a light - medium broom finish,andedgesshallbefinishedwithra d i u s . 8. Post Tensioning: After 24 hours, and prior to 30 hours, a partial 1,700 psi tension will be placed upon the cables to restrict movement and cracking. Following (1) one week of curing, when concrete has a minimum strength of 2,700 psi, the final stress procedure may begin. Each tendon shall be tensioned to a maximum of eighty percent (80%) ultimate breaking strength, and anchored at a minimum of seventy (70%) ultimate breaking strength Ultimate Breaking Strength 80% 70% 41,300 psi 33,000 psi 28,900 psi Cable elongation records shall be accurately kept and witnessed by an Ogden City Representative. Measured elongation shall be compared to calculated elongation to assure specified tension. Cable elongation to be within +/- 5% of calculated elongation. Following confirmation of elongation, cables shall be cut off and cone holes grouted flush with edge of slab. Grout shall be non-shrink grout. 9. Fencing Perimeter and Exterior. All posts shall be a minimum of 2-7/8 hot dipped galvanized piping. This coating shall be both for the interior and the e x t e r i o r c o a t i n g o f a l l p o s t s . T h e w a l l t h i c k n e s s s h a l l b e a m i n i m u m o f . 1 6 0 a n d a yield strength of fifty thousand pounds per square inch. All perimeter fencing shall be a minimum of ten (10) feet tall. Proposer shall give as a bid option the cost to have posts, rails and fencing be polyester powder coated, color to be determined by owner. Top rail shall be 1-5/8 hot dipped galvanized piping. This coating shall be both for the interior and the exterior coating of all top rails. The wall thickness shall be a m i n i m u m o f . 1 1 1 a n d a y i e l d s t r e n g t h o f f i f t y t h o u s a n d p o u n d s p e r s q u a r e i n c h (50,000 psi) 10. Accessories. The following is a proposed list of accessories that may be included in the installation process. This is a partial list and should not in any way determine the inclusive or non-inclusiveness of it. The partial list is as follows: A. Tension wire: 7 gauge coil spring tension wire7 B. Tension bands and Brace Bands: Regular type, pressed steel with nuts and bolts> C. Eye tops: Standard type, pressed steel D. Terminal Post Caps: Pressed steel E. Sleeves: 7 long, galvanized steel F. Tension Bars: 3/16 X galvanized steel G. Line Rail Clamps: 1-5/8 X 2-7/8 H. (6) Some Series Hoop Pro Model fixed basketball standards and nets 11. Gates: Construct gate frames with 1-5/8 O.D. rail materials with welded corners.
