Specifications include, but are not limited to:Contractor to provide training on avian monitoring techniques, to compile and assess existing avian data and to obtain local/remote sensing data for Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) field staff from the nine (9) State Vehicular Recreation Areas (SVRAs) statewide as listed: Prairie City SVRA, Carnegie SVRA, Hollister Hills SVRA, Oceano Dunes SVRA, Hungry Valley SVRA, Ocotillo Wells SVRA, Heber Dunes SVRA, Clay Pit SVRA and Onyx SVRA.a) Assemble and summarize existing bird survey data from all of theSVRAs and obtain remote-sensing imagery to determine habitatconditions for bird communities as indicators of ecosystem health.b) Determine the response of birds to changing habitat conditions overtime from existing plot surveys through general linear mixed models orhierarchical Bayesian models and recommend survey designs toimprove population estimates.c) Examine new approaches for measuring disturbance effects of offroadvehicle use on park resources through use of camera traps andautonomous recording units or playback to document bird and vehicleuse, and unmanned aerial systems to assess habitat conditions andbird responses.
