Specifications include, but are not limited to:Kansas State University was founded Feb. 16, 1863, under provisions of the Morrill Act, which established land-grant colleges. The 664 acre main campus is in northern Manhattan. Under an enactment of the 1991 Kansas Legislature, the Salina campus was established through a merger of the former Kansas College of Technology with the University. Additional university sites include 18,000 acres in the four branch locations of the Agricultural Experiment Station at Hays, Garden City, Colby and Parsons, and 8,600 acres in the Konza Prairie Biological Station operated by the Division of Biology. With more than 22,000 students, who come from all 50 states and more than 100 countries, K-State has been called one of America's "best values" in public colleges. Undergraduate colleges at K-State include Arts and Sciences; Engineering; Business Administration; Education; Agriculture; Human Ecology; Architecture, Planning, and Design; and K-State Polytechnic at Salina, which includes programs in aviation and technology. The University offers more than 250 undergraduate programs and options, more than 475 student organizations and nearly 30 club sports. K-State is a member of the Big 12 Conference. The K-State Graduate School offers 65 master's degrees, 45 doctoral degrees and 22 graduate certificates in multiple disciplines across campus.
