Specifications include, but are not limited to:Construction:Replaceable air filters shall be of the internal wire ring type. The internal wire ring shall be unitized heavy-duty construction. The wire support is constructed of a nine and one half gauge galvanized wire. Cross wires will be utilized on all panels greater than eleven and one quarter inches for rigidity. The media shall be multi-graduated laminate of variable denier Dacron fibers, permanently bonded in a random woven construction to assure fiber and pore structure integrity. Forty (40) denier upstream fibers with an open assembly graduating to fifteen (15) denier downstream fiber with denser assembly to assure graduated density and depth loading of dirt particles. A non-migrating, non-toxic adhesive will be applied to the downstream side of the graduated density filter media. The filter shall utilize two distinctive tackifiers, both wet and dry tack, to maximize filtration. A needled, six (6) denier fiber media will be positioned on the downstream side of the filter, encapsulating the adhesive inside the filter and acting as a final barrier layer. Heat welds shall be placed on the filter media around the perimeter of the wire frame and in the center section of each panel. The excess media outside the wire frame shall act as a gasketing edge eliminating any possibility of air by-pass.Where multi filters are to be installed in a track, a link filter shall be used. The filter shall be sized to fill the full height and width of the track. The internal wire frames shall be sized as close to standard sizes as possible for support and folding for ease of shipping and handling. A two inch (2) deep filter holding frame or tract is recommended but panel and link filters will also fit a one inch (1), three inch (3) or four inch (4) frame or tract since they friction fit the height and length of the opening.Performance:The filter shall have a MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) value of 8 when tested by an independent test facility according to ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers) Standard 52.2. The filter shall meet ANSI/UL-900 requirements. The filter shall have a guaranteed service life of three months on 100 % outside air supplied units and 6 months on recirculated air supplied units. Service life shall be determined by measuring static pressure resistance in inches water gauge (W.G.). Final operating W.G. resistance shall be determined by operating the filter to 0.3 W.G. over the initial W.G. reading. The static pressure W.G. readings shall be taken and documented (logged) by facilities personnel. If filter service life does not achieve guaranteed service life the State shall be credited on future orders for that portion of service life not achieved.
