Specifications include, but are not limited to:Flow of Sewage: The Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining continuous flow of sewagethrough the construction site at all times. The Contractors proposed method for maintaining sewageflow shall be approved by the Engineer. Cost of maintaining flow of sewage through constructionwill not be paid for directly and this cost shall be considered subsidiary to the project.8. Sewer Service Interruption: No building is to be without sewer service for more than 24 hours, andcoordination of the same with the property owner is the contractors responsibility.9. Connecting to Existing Stub. Where the proposed sanitary sewer construction requires connectionto an existing pipe stub, the Contractor shall excavate to determine the flowline elevation, slope,horizontal alignment, pipe type, and condition of the stub prior to beginning construction. If removal,replacement, or resetting of the stub is required to facilitate connection to the manhole, the Contractorshall complete such work at no additional cost to the project.10. Damage to Existing Structures: If damaged during construction, existing manholes, sewer lines andother appurtenances to remain in service shall be repaired to original condition without additionalpayment11. Subsidiary Costs: All costs for removal of observation holes shall be subsidiary to the price bid forsewer pipe removed.12. Building Service Lines: Building sewer service lines shall be Sch. 40 PVC pipe. Connections toexisting building service lines shall follow the Special Provisions PART 800, Item 8, for SanitarySewer Couplings. Only active service lines which connect buildings to the sewer system are to bereconnected to the new sewer line. Building service lines and\or connections which have beenabandoned are not to be reconnected to the new sewer line. It will be the sole responsibility of theContractor to ascertain which building service lines and\or connections are active and which servicesand\or connections have been abandoned. An unoccupied building is still considered to have anactive service line. Any service line not in a condition which would permit reconnection, shall bereplaced as much as necessary, up to the easement boundary, at no additional cost to the project. Ifthe building service line has failed beyond the easement, the Contractor shall notify the projectinspector or the home owner of the existing problem.
